Geometrical Renormalization Groups: Perfect Deconstruction Actions
نویسنده
چکیده
By combining two distinct renormalization group transformations, opposing scale transformations, we obtain a composite transformation which does not rescale the system, and drives it to a “geometrical” fixed point, controlling the effective geometry and locality. The latticized (deconstructed) action for an extra-dimensional field theory becomes a “perfect action,” with a linear ladder spectrum for N modes. ∗e-mail: [email protected]

Perfect lattice actions with and without chiral symmetry
We use perturbation theory to construct perfect lattice actions for fermions and gauge fields by blocking directly from the continuum. When one uses a renormalization group transformation that preserves chiral symmetry the resulting lattice action for massless fermions is chirally symmetric but nonlocal. When the renormalization group transformation breaks chiral symmetry the lattice action bec...
متن کاملPerfect Scalars on the Lattice
We perform renormalization group transformations to construct optimally local perfect lattice actions for free scalar fields of any mass. Their couplings decay exponentially. The spectrum is identical to the continuum spectrum, while thermodynamic quantities have tiny lattice artifacts. To make such actions applicable in simulations, we truncate the couplings to a unit hypercube and observe tha...
متن کاملPerfect Discretizations of Differential Operators
In this paper we investigate an approach for the numerical solution of differential equations which is based on the perfect discretization of actions. Such perfect discretizations show up at the fixed points of renormalization group transformations. This technique of integrating out the high momentum degrees of freedom with a path integral has been mainly used in lattice field theory, therefore...
متن کاملEffective description of brane terms in extra dimensions
We study how theories defined in (extra-dimensional) spaces with localized defects can be described perturbatively by effective field theories in which the width of the defects vanishes. These effective theories must incorporate a “classical” renormalization, and we propose a renormalization prescription à la dimensional regularization for codimension 1, which can be easily used in phenomenolog...
متن کاملFixed-point action for fermions in QCD
The ultimate goal of any improvement program for QCD is to find a perfect action with no lattice artifacts: the renormalized trajectory (RT) of some renormalization group transformation (RGT), parameterized by g the gauge coupling and m the quark mass. That is too difficult a task at present, and so we attempt instead to find the one-loop perfect fixed point (FP) action (at β = ∞) and to follow...
